DETOXING YOUR BODY
Detoxing
or detoxification, is the body's natural, ongoing process of
neutralising or eliminating toxins from the body through the colon,
liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph, and skin. The human body can become toxic
or polluted from the things that we consume and from our polluted
environments.
Having too many toxins in your body can lead to a range of symptoms
including tiredness, weight gain, behavioral problems, lowering of
emotions, lowered immune systems, and skin conditions.
There are 2 areas to which toxins are linked to. These are
Environmental related toxins and Internal Source toxins.
Environmental toxins can be
anything from smoke and air pollution, chemical residues in food,
chemicals from paints, plastics, furnishings, pesticides, deodorants,
detergents, and many other house hold products just to name a few.
Internal sources of toxicity can
develop from drugs, undigested foods, dehydration, malnutrition, and
from poor diet containing too much animal protein, saturated and trans
fats, too much caffeine, alcohol, soft drinks, junk food, processed
foods, and unfiltered
water.
The effect toxins can have on our bodies shows in our general
fitness and health. They can make you feel sluggish and stressful, your
body may experience continuous aching, diarrhea or constipation, or
lethargy and clumsiness. Rapid weight gain and the inability to lose
excess weight can also be signs of toxins in your body.

Air pollution
in cities is well known but the air in your home can be even more toxic
as it becomes stale and accumulates.
Contributing factors are synthetic building materials, paints,
new furnishings that give out gas pollutants (i.e. furniture, curtains,
& carpets), toiletries, and house hold cleaning products.
To help eliminate toxins in your home reduce
usage of toxic cleaners and try switching to safety
conscious toiletries.

Food Choices. There
are many foods and beverages that can easily be cut off from your diet
in order to cleanse your body. The usual
suspects are caffeine, alcohol, fast foods, meats, and dairy.
Other not so obvious are ingredients such as preservatives and
flavour enhancers or flavours found in takeaways and processed foods.
Also be aware of the abundance of pesticide sprays found on fruits and
vegetables that an ordinary wash doesn't always eliminate and actually
adds to our toxicity.
